Publication Charges

  • Article Processing Charges

OPUS prioritizes affordable scientific publication by operating on a fully open access model for all its articles, ensuring unrestricted use and reuse while crediting authors. The publication of journal articles falls under this open access framework, facilitated by Article Processing Charges (APCs) commonly paid by authors, institutions, or funding bodies. Our primary aim is to expedite the publication process while maintaining stringent quality standards and maximizing dissemination. Notably, OPUS also allocates funds to compensate reviewers and editors, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining quality standards in the peer review process.

Authors are required to pay a one-time APC of $200, covering expenses such as peer review (including payments to reviewers and editors), editorial management, article production, and dissemination across various platforms, alongside other publishing functions. Following the conclusion of admission processes, the alignment of the manuscript with the journal’s aims and scope will be assessed by field editors, typically within seven days. Subsequently, corresponding authors must proceed to submit the Article Publication Charge ($200). It is crucial to note that although an advance payment option for the APC exists, it does not ensure manuscript acceptance.

  • FAQs:

When and how do I pay?

Payment is required upon the field editor’s decision confirming the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s aims and scope. Payment information will be sent to the corresponding author via email. You have the option to make payment via credit card using a secure online form or through a bank transfer.

Are waivers available for those lacking funds?

OPUS considers requests for APC waivers and discounts on a case-by-case basis, primarily for corresponding authors from low-income countries as defined by the World Bank. Other requests based on financial need may also be considered at submission.

What is the APC refund policy?

OPUS will refund APCs if our error prevents an article from being published under the agreed open access terms within 30 days of publication. Refunds are not applicable in cases of article retraction due to author error or misconduct.
